The God we serve wants to see us prosper in all spheres of life, not only spiritually. God wants us to be empowered spiritually, financially, emotionally, etc.
God is interested in seeing you do well financially, and He gives His people the ability and power to get wealth.
Let’s look at a Bible text:
Duet 8:18 – “And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may ]establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
Power to get wealth is about KINGDOM WEALTH. The truth about the Kingdom Wealth is that God is your source, and any other sources are resources. Not your job, not your business. If you lose your job, no reason to be sorrowful, because you have not lost your God.
The kingdom of God is the reason for kingdom wealth. Money is a tool to fulfill God’s purpose. Kingdom wealth (Power to get wealth) is not about endless materialistic pursuit for personal glorification, but for the kingdom of God.
Let’s look at how God Empowers Us to Get Wealth:
1. Through His blessings on us:
In Gen 2:28 – Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.
The “them” in the text has you in it. The verse describes God as the originator of blessing. God is the only and true source of lasting blessing.
2. Through His covenant with us:
Deut 8:18 – And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
God’s covenant is a seal of His blessing because it is an assurance of His blessing.
Your job is to leverage the power (God’s blessings and Covenant). Leveraging the power God gave us is what many people lack so they result into chasing money.
The easiest way to remain poor is to be chasing money. Those who chase money don’t get rich. Instead, they get frustrated. (1Tim 6:10 – For the love of money is the root of all of evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows).
Now that we’ve gone through how God empowers us to get wealth, how can we Leverage the Power to Get Wealth?
1. Produce Value (You are activating the power):
Every wealthy person produces something (product, or service – this is value). It Is when you begin to produce value that money will begin to chase you.
Remember, money is a means of exchange of value. When you have solution (in product or service) that people can benefit from, they will be ready to pay anything for it. At that point, the colour of your skin will not matter again. That you do not know anyone will not matter again. All that will matter is that you have solution to benefit people, and you will become a sought after.
Mental skill (Intelligence), Creative Skill, Management skill & Leadership skills will help you create more value than physical labour.
You buy wealth with the currency of time. An entrepreneur buys 8 hours daily time of 10 people (9 to 5 = 80 hours), pays them peanut and convert those time into value added service or tangible products and sells it at premium prices.
Praying and fasting only will not make you rich. You have to follow the principles of wealth creation. There is a principle to make, manage and multiply wealth.
2. Invest Wisely:
Savings is more like a control and exercise of financial discipline, but wise investment guarantees a higher level of financial freedom. Don’t rush to invest without seeking to gain knowledge, without considering the cost, without planning ahead, and without considering your goals and options.
3. Diversify strategically:
You can diversify your investment, you can also diversify your skill set such that if demand declines in one skill, you can pick up the others. In Gen 13:2 – Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold. An example of an individual that is skilled in marketing, business analysis, operations management and supply chain. He cannot go wrong. If all your time is spent in one place, you need to diversify; if all your income comes from one source, you need to diversify.
Eccl. 11: 1 and 2 says “Cast your bread upon the waters, For you will find it after many days. 2 Give a serving to seven, and also to eight, For you do not know what evil will be on the earth”. This is sampling admonishing us to diversify for two reasons: First to create opportunity for multiple income streams, and secondly, to avoid any future unknown risk.
As we come to the concluding part of this message, it is important to know that you get wealthy by following principles not just by prayers. The good news here is that these principles are godly principles, and all have roots in the bible.
Say this prayer:
My Father and my God, help me to give my mind to diligence and follow the principles to help me get wealth, in Jesus name.
