2023 was a great year. The new year, 2024, will be a greater one for you, and you’ll experience God’s grace throughout the year, in Jesus name.
The year is moving fast already, and it’s important to look ahead and get your focus right early enough. Looking ahead is a call for hope as well as for preparation.
You can no longer dwell in the past; the wins and/or losses. There’s a whole lot ahead of you.
Let’s look at the scripture:
Phil. 3:13&14 – (13). Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, (14). I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
We’ll be outlining HOW you can look ahead in 2024
1. Know God better:
There’s no truer fact than this. It is the foundation for the Christian. In your plans, goal, target, make the knowledge of God the base. You cannot cut corners with God this year.
You can know God better by:
(a). Knowing the scriptures better:
You can’t look ahead without first looking up to God. He’s an ever-present help.
David said in Psa. 121: 1-2 “I will lift up my eyes to the hill, where does my help come from, my help come from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth”.
The “hill” in the verse about connotes looking on high, to God. This is more to reading and quoting the bible, it takes clear understanding, to know the mind and intent of God, for your life.
There is a great work of transformation that happens when you spend time with scriptures. 2Cor 3:18 – But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
(b). Understanding where God is at with you:
Sometimes, when we ask questions like: What is God doing in my life at this time? Where is He taking me to?
Which season of life has God brought me into?
Your life is too important to live it without direction. Every season of your life is crucial, and you must know what God is saying and what He wants to have you do, per time.
When God allowed Joseph to be thrown into the pit, to be sold into slavery, and into the prison, he kept looking ahead and positioned himself in destiny because he understood where God was with him at different season of his life.
You must know God when things are not smooth. When it seems, prayers are not answered.
It helps you to know that God is not missing when life happens to us.
2. Channel your energy differently:
The presence of the people in our life is for a purpose. You really need to understand this and know the wisdom to employ when human tendencies want to set in.
Some people are in your life as an assignment, and these people are significant to your destiny. On the other hand, some people are there as attachments. Don’t take one for the other.
Invest in those “assignments”. Jesus invested in Peter because He knew that someday He’d return to the Father and the gospel must continue, with Peter being the ‘rock’ upon which the gospel will grow.
3. Develop Your Foresight:
Developing your foresight is like looking through a telescope, to see the things that are far off; to see what is ahead of you. It literally helps you gain an advantage.
It helps you to control the present and connects you to the future. With foresight, you develop the ability to predict the future – this isn’t about prophecy. You have the instinct to accurately predict what will happen ahead of time, and what is required to shape the future into a desirable outcome.
You can develop foresight by:
(a). Understanding trends:
In 1 Chr.12:32 – of the sons of Issachar who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do.
Have you asked yourself “Will my current skill set survive the growing disruption of Artificial Intelligence is bringing into the labor force globally?”
If your honest answer is “no,” having foresight requires you to determine what you need to do today to be relevant in the future.
What new skill? What new information? What new partnership? These are assessment questions to help you follow valuable trends.
Prov 2:11(God’s Words Translation) – Foresight will protect you. Understanding will guard you.
Say this prayer:
My Father and my God, open my eyes to see the invisible. Help me to develop foresight to win in 2024, in Jesus’ name.
