It’s with great joy we introduce you into this next topic of faith. Specifically, Feed Your Faith.
Faith can simply be likened to a driving force that keeps us in a state of belief.
We’ll go into more details as we go on.
We’ll be taking our bible text from:
Col. 2:6-7 – (6) So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, (7) rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
Let’s also look at the book of Romans chapter 10 verse 17;
(17). Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. – NIV
The first text talks about being rooted and built. And the second text emphasizes the hearing of faith.
We can infer from the above that, to be rooted is highly important to stay in the faith we have received. Also, we can receive faith through hearing the word about Christ, other verses call it – “the word of God”.
Every aspect of our lives is affected by faith, and it is that door that opens to everything God wants to do with our lives.
To feed our faith, we must first understand the levels of faith. There are five levels of faith and we’ll be taking a closer look at what they entail.
1.DEAD FAITH: From the scripture that says “faith without work is dead”. That implies that faith without corresponding action is a dead faith. As clearly stated in Jam 2:17 – Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
2.. LITTLE FAITH – When faith is little, the faith is mixed with fear, and doubt. In Mat 8:26 – But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?”. Even, with Jesus in the boat the disciples were still afraid…because they had little faith.
3.. GENUINE FAITH – This faith is sincere and real; solid and unchanging. This was the kind of faith Paul found in Timothy. When the likes of Demas deserted Paul because of his love for the things of the world. No one can love the world and love the Lord simultaneously.
4.. GROWING FAITH – This is the faith that is evident with show of love, and display of patience. According to 2 Thes 1: 3-4 – (3) We thank God always for you, brethren, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other, (4) so that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and [a]tribulations that you endure.
5.. GREAT FAITH – This is the kind of faith that believes in the authority of God’s word with no doubt. This faith believes before the result becomes obvious.
Great faith does not focus on feelings, prevailing circumstances or people’s opinion. It focuses on God.
Why Must you Feed Your Faith?
You must feed your faith to Grow it – from dead, to little, to genuine, to growing and to a Great faith.
Know that you’ve known the levels of faith and Why you must feed your faith, now let’s go into the HOW.
How to Feed Your Faith:
1.. Feed on God’s Word: God’s word is the only food your soul needs to stay healthy. While your body needs the physical food, your soul needs the spiritual food – the word of God. If you want to FEED your faith, it starts by hearing, and that means feeding yourself with God’s Word. In Rom 10:17 – So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
What you hear influences what you do. WHAT DO YOU HEAR?
Faith produces joy. You are joyful even when you have not yet received the proof of what you are waiting for.
When your faith gets into faith it is that one we’ve fed the most that wins. The more of God’s word you feed on, the stronger your faith becomes.
2.. As you feed your faith, focus on God – who must be the object of your faith: According to Heb 12:2 – looking unto Jesus, the [a]author and [b]finisher of our faith. Believe in the word you feed into your faith.
Proclaim those words with all the assurance. This is how to defeat your fear. This is how to roll away your fear. Where fear reigns, faith is driven away. But where faith reigns, fear has no place. Faith and fear don’t mix. As you bring in faith, fear will walk out the back door. But, if you invite fear as a resident in your life, then you will drive faith away.
When you entertain fear, after hearing the word of God; your faith reduces drastically. If care is not taken, it becomes dead again.
Let’s say this prayer:
Father let my faith take a giant stride to crush every mountain of fear and doubt in the name of Jesus.
